A reading from The Book of Ezekiel…

Woe to the shepherds of Israel who have been pasturing themselves! You did not strengthen the weak nor heal the sick nor bind up the injured. You did not bring back the strayed nor seek the lost… So they were scattered for the lack of a shepherd, and became food for all the wild beasts.

Therefore, shepherds, hear the word of the LORD:  I swear I am coming against these shepherds…. I will save my sheep, that they may no longer be food for their mouths. (Ezekiel 34:1-11)

Responsorial Psalm Ps 146:7, 8-9, 9-10

R. (1b) Praise the Lord, my soul!

The LORD keeps faith forever,
secures justice for the oppressed,
gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets captives free.
R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

The LORD gives sight to the blind.
The LORD raises up those who were bowed down;
the LORD loves the just.
The LORD protects strangers.
R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

The fatherless and the widow he sustains,
but the way of the wicked he thwarts.
The LORD shall reign forever;
your God, O Zion, through all generations. Alleluia.
R. Praise the Lord, my soul!

Taken from the Responsorial Hymn from the Holy Mass 11/11/12.

Isn’t it beautiful!?

“Again I say, watch and pray, because the Lord is on his way and you know neither the day nor the hour when He will knock at your door. Do not squander your time on earthly vanities and concerns, rather, be concerned to resume the road which will lead you to the gates of the new creation. Be ready and prepared, because all will come suddenly, and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all tribes of the earth mourn: and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with much power and majesty.”- (Matthew Ch.24 Vs.30).

How’s this for conviction?  I opened up my bible today and this verse pops out at me:

Ezekiel 33:8-9

If I tell the wicked man that he shall surely die, and you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked man from his way, he (the wicked man) shall die for his guilt, but I will hold you responsible for his death. But if you warn the wicked man, trying to turn him from his way, and he refuses to turn from his way, he shall dies for his guilt, but you shall save yourself.

Lord, give me the grace to speak in Your name, no matter the consequence. For I wish to save not only my soul, but, the souls of others…AMEN! :)

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.  But sore up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, no thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

Just a little something to ponder, as we commemorate the Feast of St. Vincent De Paul.  God Bless, Shalom!

1 John 4:8-11- God is Love!

Whoever is without Love does not know God, for God is Love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we must also love one another…

Lately it seems, the Lord has been impressing this well know but little understood fact on my heart. God is love!  No matter how much I try to harbor ill feelings towards others, he doesn’t allow it to scratch the surface and instead infuses within me a deep love for others that cannot possibly come from within me, but, instead must be from Him.  Love the un-loveable he says.  Be my light, he implores! And so it goes that, I find myself unable to resist, the deep emotion to love my brother even as I struggle with feelings that I just want to hurt him. Yes, God is love. Once he’s got you hooked, you can’t resist the urge live in the way He called us to live.  And that means living radically different from how the world views things. While the secular world will tell us that “revenge is sweet” and that “it’s okay to fight fire with fire”, He tells us that is not His way. You cannot possibly live in Him without being infused with His love. Yes, God is Love! He loves us so much that it becomes impossible to not love others the same way he does. Not because it comes from ourselves, but, because He exacts a powerful counter cultural infusion of love within your Heart that you cannot help but see others as He see us..Beautiful and beloved.. God is Love! We are Loved! We are God’s children! We are children of the Light! Go forth in Love! Shine your Light! Peace be with you! Shalom! :-)
